The iMac “Core i5” 2.7 21.5-Inch Aluminum (Late 2013/Haswell) features a 22 nm “Haswell/Crystalwell” Quad Core 2.7 GHz Intel “Core i5” (4570R) processor with four independent processor cores on a single chip, a 4 MB shared level 3 cache, 16 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, a 1 TB (5400 RPM) hard drive, and an “integrated” Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics processor with 128 MB of “Crystalwell” embedded DRAM (and shared system memory). It also has a built-in “FaceTime HD” webcam and stereo speakers, but lacks an optical drive. This model has a 21.5″ 1920×1080 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS display with the “cover glass fully laminated to the LCD and anti-reflective coating.” The rear of the case is aluminum and is thicker in the middle and tapers to a razor thin 5 mm at the edges. Apple weds high-res 4K visuals into its sleek 21.5″ iMac with Retina 4K Display (Early 2019). In addition to its 4096 x 2304 screen resolution, its display offers 1 billion colors at 500 nits of brightness. The Retina 4K display also features the wider P3 color gamut, which provides a larger color space by utilizing red-green phosphor LEDs that uniformly represent red, green, and blue. And with more available colors, images will appear more vivid and reveal greater detail, with more balance and precision.

In October 2012, a new iMac model was introduced that featured a considerably smaller monitor depth than the previous models, measuring 5mm at its thinnest point. The 21.5″ and 27″ screens remained at their previous resolutions, 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 respectively. RAM has been upgraded; the standard specification is now 8GB, with 32GB being the optional maximum on the 27″ model.
